Tokens are small donations that collectively will be put to use for the cleanup and renaissance of Field A.
Money raised through Tokens will be used to hire locals to help me clean out, build a few benches, rent some machinery, and complete smaller tasks like creating paths for visitors, install garbage cans etc.
You can buy one, or an unlimited number of Tokens.
OBJECTIVE: Provide rest to visitors. Create a peaceful alcove where one can read a book, eat a snack, take a nap....
The first Cherry Blossom Tree was a true success, and all first 20 trees have been adopted within 3 hours from launch.
Now that I fulfilled my romantic dream of making the access road utterly beautiful, while expecting my wife to return home, I have finally decided what's going to happen next. It is true that all I can dream of is to revive my family estate to its old glory, but it is also true that I intend to share my work with anyone who can appreciate it....
Since I was a child, our fields and olive orchard have been a destination form many villagers seeking some time for themselves, some fresh air, a healthy walk... maybe a fresh fig straight from a tree, during a warm September day.
Since I got home about six months ago, I had the opportunity to meet and talk with almost everyone who I noticed walking our trails; the old ladies picking blackberries, the father bringing his sons on a mountain bike ride, the young family out with dog and baby stroller... the list goes on.
Because of all of them I have decided that the first field I will work on is the first one of our property, the one close to the main road, the one that everyone has to walk through to enter our little valley. I want it to be a statement about the love for nature, the welcoming nature of my dream, the deep sense of inclusion that I believe this project can produce amongst players (you) and citizens (Fiesole and its inhabitants).
While Cherry Blossom Lane was a simple romantic project, "FIELD A (The South Slope)" is a true challenge, and multiple tasks are at hand.
The field must be cleaned from debree and garbage that has been tossed from the main road... before being plowed and crumbled with a fine comb, before we even think of a grass and pathways layout.
Olive trees will need to be pruned soon. More of them will be planted in the available spaces.
A fence will need to go up, not to define this slice of private property, but rather to prevent boars and deer to devastate it on the first night.
I also thought it would be wonderful to have a few benches, which I will commission to our local stone workers.
The project will begin as soon as the first adoptions will start coming in. Weather permitting I will hit the ground running, and most likely will have to enlist some help, find a tractor, maybe a small excavator.
I will post daily videos about the progress of "Field A", show you any progress I make, any challenge I encounter... I will learn from my mistakes and always forge ahead, while I hope to create a wonderful garden for my community to enjoy, and for you one day to come visit.
Alright then, let's get to work!
